What Should I Protest

You and some other like-minded people whom you met randomly at a party should live on top of a tree in a contested area to protest against forced student labour.

What is this? This is a protest generator I put together in 2013. The 'protest' seems slightly alien as a concept in Singapore, where public demonstrations are rare as it is illegal to hold a 'cause-based' event without a prior licence from the authorities (Read more about the Public Order Act in the Ministry of Home Affair's Booklet). I felt like I didn't really know how people around the world expressed their strong feelings about causes in other countries, so I decided to take a look at the kinds of protests, actions, and bans that are being reported on the internet in news websites. Here, pressing the button produces a mashup of different protests as they have been reported in various online mainstream media.
