Available data

Mobility data from LTA and updated datasets from NEA, covering Waste Management & Recycling, Public Cleanliness & Food Hygiene, Weather & Air Quality and Energy Efficiency. And don't forget streamlined access to NLB's Singapore Memory Project APIs, OneMap's new PopulationQuery service and much much more

Raw data underlying the sets from data.gov.sg:

  • URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) - Property Market Information, Electronic Register Data
  • HDB (Housing and Development Board) - Resale & HUDC flat prices, Rental Sublet Data
  • PUB (Public Utilities Board) - Location of flooding hotspots
  • ACRA (Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority) - UEN Database of registered entities

Talk - Andres Sevtsuk, SUTD

  • urban space as a medium of communication and accessibility - nolli map of rome 1748
  • digital system as medium of communication and accessibility - example of bus with tail showing velocity
  • digital / mechanical / structural - each additional layer builds upon previosu infrastructure
  • infrastructure becomes - INSTRUMENTED / INTERCONNECTED / INTELLIGENT
  • urban congestion toll example - erp - price barriers keep traffic down? - what if the new erp did not involve physical gantry ways but KNEW all the locations of vehicles and charged differently than just charging for entering certain zones - autonomous - "why do we need graffiti on the roads?" / why have lanes? couldn't big cars have more "bandwidth?" designing urban environments that do not demand on fixed structures / fixed lanes / fixed sizes for things
  • what is the best strategy of distributing real-time information on the availability of XX? what are the unwanted outcomes? - eg: "30% of traffic in dense urban areas is searching for parking (Shoup, 2005) how do we get info out for it?

Talk - surbana urban planning - anadan karunakaran

  • ring concept / road network / capacity etc
  • the speaker has a lot of data but showing us so much is overwhelming...
  • kigali city planning project

three orders of efficiency

  • more info visible = better decisions
  • together = better decision - coordinated decision making
  • what did you decide earlier - learn from historic trends?
  • how do we innovate with urban data? the story of reinforced concrete. from new material in late 1800s (eg saint jean de montmatre 1904 to millau bridge france 2005 - the potential of reinforced concrete in its use as long antilevers.
