A term coined by the Marxist theorist Guy Debord to explore how different places make us feel and behave. Originally inspired by Baudelaire’s concept of the flaneur - an urban wanderer. Walter Benjamin, in his writing on Baudelaire, described the flâneur as the essential figure of the modern urban spectator.
