• buy cheap wool: Are you in the UK? Then try 'Mavis of Bushey' - the largest supplier of Sirdar yarns in Europe. Also, buy a good knitting magazine, as there will always be masses of classified ads. I have found that there isn't so much cheap yarn around now, especially if you require pure wool. Also, have a look at the Smith & Jamieson site - they are in the Shetlands, and have a good selection of pure Shetland yarns.
