ABOUT THE WORK

Drift Alley

Drift Alley is a Southeast Asian cyberpunk world set in a future metaverse inspired by Little India in Singapore. Drawing directly from the spatial illogic of the junction of Clive Street and Weld Road – a psychogeographical vortex with an oddly misaligned structure that confounds both pedestrians and vehicles, players drift through a landscape of old shophouse backalleys teeming with sites of informal exchanges, speculative micro-economies, and fragmented identities in the metaverse. From SideQuest Human Resource Companies, NPC Legal Advice Firms, Auto-Fishing Shops, to Loot Crate Pawnshops. Drift Alley imagines the underbelly of the metaverse – a world of precarious NPCs, griefers, side-hustlers operating at the fringe of visibility, tactically trying to find their place in the virtual and digital economy.

This is a work in progress which will be evolving.

THE BIG QUESTION
Are there still places in the world where we can truly get lost in? Lost on a crashed plane, lost in a book, lost in fantasies of utopia... or conspiracy?

PROCESS / BEHIND THE SCENES
Poems for a Prata Menu - I wanted a pantun for every prata on the menu but that seemed unfeasible in terms of a UI design so instead I just made poetic pun for each prata on the menu...
Poems for a Prata Menu - assets for the 23 Hour Pantun & Prata shop, modelled after the BIG BOSS Coffeeshop on the corner of Upp Weld Road, in what I like to describe as a psychogeographical vortex where cars and pedestrians get lost and confused in Singapore's Little India.

Signage design - I laid out the shops in the world and then screenshotted them. Then I populated each signboard by developing a signage for each shop.
Signage design was done in Illustrator then brought into Blender.

The world was modelled in Blender 3D and then lighted in Unity
