Kalanchoe daigremontiana (Bryophyllum daigremontianum also called Mother of Thousands, Alligator Plant, or Mexican Hat Plant) is POISONOUS.
Lessons I have learnt about English Plants
Tomatos require green houses.
Trying to make a decision about what new plants to buy for a dark room....
One rule of thumb is that most vine plants, like pothos or philodendron, grow well with little light. These plants are solid green and may have streaks of white or yellow. Other vine plants include Cissus Antarctica (kangaroo plant), monstera and dozens of types of ivy. Vine plants require little water and little sun but look beautiful all the same.
For something simple and low-maintenance, try English Ivy (Hedera helix). This is a hardy plant with dark green, glossy leaves. It can climb to 9' when used as a vine, and you can also use it as groundcover, creating a carpet effect in areas where grass has difficulty growing.
Cut flowers can benefit from aspirin. Just as aspirin makes a headache go away by making the blood vessels dialate by vasodialation, it also makes the fluid pathways from the lower portions of the stem dialate and allow fluids to pass upwards to the leaves and flowers. Therefore the upper parts of the cut flower get more water, stays hydrated and keeps its color longer. The salicyclic acid also acidifies the water and prevents the growth of bacteria.
Buying new plants
DO NOT BUY THAT MANGY POT IN THE CORNER EVEN IF ITS ON CHEAP SALE. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BRING BUGS HOME THAT WILL EAT YOUR OTHER PLANTS.
Removing weeds will improve the health of your main plant. Even if the weeds are cute or if you like the concept of wild plants taking over your pot, they are still absorbing nutrients from your main plant and it will suffer from that. In most cases especially potted plants you will see a remarkable improvement in plant health if you remove the damn weeds.
