What is Mozilla Prism

"Prism is an application that lets users split web applications out of their browser and run them directly on their desktop."

How do I build on Prism

What is the point of Prism when you can use a browser?

On their website, they state that "unlike Adobe AIR and Microsoft Silverlight, we’re not building a proprietary platform to replace the web. We think the web is a powerful and open platform for this sort of innovation, so our goal is to identify and facilitate the development of enhancements that bring the advantages of desktop apps to the web platform."

Not too sure how different they are from Adobe AIR, seems to be just a different way of phrasing it: BRING INTERWEBS TO THE DESKTOP vs BRING DESKTOP TO THE INTERWEBS? The point is that more and more information is distributed over web platforms and the space between the two "interfaces" (the browser window and the desktop) has to be bridged.
